The Kratom Collectors
A feature documentary for Czech Television about the kratom phenomenon. Sound dramaturgy and final mix that carried audiences from Thai plantations to Czech streets — and won two audience awards.

The challenge
A documentary shot in wildly different conditions — from noisy streets to quiet, intimate testimonies — needed a unified, clean and dramaturgically built soundtrack. Speech had to stay intelligible in every situation while atmospheres kept the authenticity of each place.
The approach
I built the sound dramaturgy on the contrast between close, intimate testimonies and wide environmental atmospheres. Dialogue went through careful cleanup and editing; atmospheres were layered from field recordings to carry the emotion of a scene, not just information about a location. The final mix was delivered both to broadcast loudness standards and for festival cinema screenings.
The result
The film aired on Czech Television (available on iVysílání), ran more than twenty screenings and won the Audience Award at Academia Film Olomouc 2025 and at Prague Science Film Fest 2025.
My contribution: Sound dramaturgy of the whole film, dialogue cleanup and editing, atmospheres and archive material, final mix for TV broadcast and festival screenings.
